John Peers Olympic Bronze Medal

Representing Australia in his second Olympic games John Peers has come away with a sensational result winning a bronze medal in Tokyo. Teaming up with fellow Kooyong member and World number one Ash Barty in the mixed doubles the pair won through the preliminary rounds before going down to the eventual Gold Medallists. They then claimed the bronze after Novak Djokovic and partner Nina Stojanovic pulled out of the medal playoff. A proud moment for John, partner Ash and the Kooyong Foundation!

Gilheany Wins First ITF Junior Singles Title

Roisin Gilheany won her first 18/U ITF Junior singles title in Preveza, Greece. Currently based in Spain, Gilheany beat Greece’s Dimitra Pavlou 7-5, 6-1 in the final. She also won the doubles event in Preveza, and followed up with another doubles victory in Ioannina Greece, her third ITF junior doubles title. The wins take Roisin’s junior ranking to 377 in the World.

Polmans Dream Wimbledon Debut

Marc Polmans made the dream Wimbledon singles debut. After winning 3 matches in the qualifying rounds, Polmans faced off against veteran Yen-Hsun Lu in the first round of main draw. Polmans prevailed in a tough 4-set encounter 6-2, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. The win will go down as one of his best in his career so far and will see his ranking jump back on the edge of the World’s top 100 players.

US College Pathway

The Kooyong Foundation currently have an impressive 13 players on tennis scholarships in the USA. This has been an increasingly popular pathway for players to take and continue their tennis development after juniors whilst also having the opportunity to study and earn a university degree.
