Three rising stars of Australian tennis — Koharu Nishikawa, Ymerali Ibraimi and Nikolas Baker, — have been selected to represent the nation in elite junior international competitions.
Nishikawa earns her third national team selection and her second appearance in the 16/U Junior Billie Jean King Cup team, which will compete at the Asia Oceania qualifying finals in Kazakhstan.
“I’m really happy to be on the team and represent Australia. Not just to play for myself but play for everyone who has supported me and all the different communities such as Kooyong. I want to make everyone proud,” Nishikawa said.
Joining her in Kazakhstan are Baker and Ibraimi, who have been named in the 16/U Junior Davis Cup team.
“To play for my country has always been a big goal of mine,” said Ibraimi. “I am ecstatic to be selected and can’t wait to do my best and compete as hard as possible for my country.”
The trio’s selection is a proud moment for Kooyong, as their talent and hard work have been rewarded with this fantastic honour.
We wish Koharu, Ymerali, Nikolas and Team Australia all the best as they represent the nation on the international stage!
